Founded in 2011 by researchers from IRISA and INRIA (French research institutes in IT technologies), Tocea provides software solutions dedicated to continuous control and reduction of risks related to application development. Located in Rennes (Brittany), the company markets Scertify™, whose unique technology is the result of 14 man-years of research & development in the areas of static code analysis, software security, application architecture and refactoring.
In order to finance its growth plan and to support the execution of its strategy, Tocea has closed a first round of funding from its partner IT-Translation, amounting to 300K euros. Created by INRIA (a french public science and technology institution) and CDC Entreprises, IT-Translation assists innovative companies stemming from the research sector.
This first round will allow Tocea to:

Tocea helps customers improve the quality of their applications and reduce the maintenance burden by providing solutions that combine continuous monitoring of risk associated with remediation of programming defects. We provide agile teams – architects, project managers and developers – with tools for analyzing and correcting code, that are integrated within the development processes, to assist in optimization of architectures, programming and security of their applications.
As a result of an important investment into research & development, Scertify™ brings an operational answer to the needs of agility of mature software development process.
Since its inception, technology innovation is written in the DNA of Tocea. Supported by OSEO, a a public-sector institution dedicated to economic development for SMEs, the competitive cluster « Images & Réseaux » and the Brittany region of, Tocea is also a member of « Rennes Atalantes » a local professional network that provide supports to entrepreneurs of technology start-ups.
Created as an initiative of INRIA and CDC Entreprises (Caisse des Dépôts Group), IT-Translation is a new channel for research commercialization through entrepreneurship. Since it was founded in 2011, IT-Translation has already invested into 8 companies.
